3 – Brand New Target, Same Old Tricks
As much as we can sit around and moan about the result, Arsenal can’t afford to drop any more points if they are to secure Champions League football for next season.
Three months ago we were talking about the title and now, yet again our Premier League blushes are being shown as we attempt to stumble over the finish line.
The Gunners now face a West Brom side who can upset anyone on their day, before taking on Norwich and Sunderland who are both desperate for points as they fight relegation.
This season has shown us that there is no ‘easy game’ and that anything can happen, but it seems that mentality hasn’t yet creeped into the Arsenal DNA.
We had too many chances to kill the game off and were punished for failing to convert our chances, which leaves us in a dog-fight towards the end of the season.
Manchester United and West Ham are both creeping up the table and with their form it could come down to the final day to determine who fits where in Europe.
A week ago I stated that the goal is for Arsenal to finish above Spurs, but now it’s fully down to finishing in that third place spot ahead of Manchester City, who have one eye on a date with Real Madrid.
We face Pellegrini’s side on the penultimate day of the Premier League, and victory at the Etihad could help us to finish the season on a high going into a final day with Aston Villa.
