Despite the result I’ve managed to pick out a positive from the weekend’s action, and this man could be pivotal in the last few fixtures as Arsenal look to secure Champions League football.

The Chilean international has found his feet again, having played a part in seven goals inside his last six Premier League games, with four goals and four assists to his name.

A month ago the winger was struggling big time, and we were beginning to question whether his electric form that claimed the Arsenal Player of the Year award was just a one-season wonder.

But with another looping header on Sunday afternoon, Alexis proved he’s still got those tricks up his sleeve and is capable of scoring a goal in any situation.

His versatility has been tested in recent games, often switching flanks with Alex Iwobi to play on the right hand side rather than his preferred left-wing.

However, with his confidence now sky-high it will be vital for him to get in behind defenders with those more familiar runs we’re used to seeing from the likes of Theo Walcott.

He now has a number of games to play with a lot more freedom and it seems as if that infamous injury he sustained earlier in the season is well and truly at the back of his mind.

Alexis now has 14 goals in all competitions this season, so with the remaining five fixtures that are set out in front of him, the goal will be to reach 20, a tough yet achievable target.
