Technically not a transfer I know, but he would be a signing – because his contract is up. The Spaniard is the cheapest solution to Arsenal’s lack of back up for Francis Coquelin. His mature head gives Arsenal a steady base in midfield, but he cannot offer the steel and athleticism that I think we need in this area. I would be OK with him as third choice, but I really think we cannot afford to view Arteta as the solution if we are serious about winning the title next season. Many also forget the young Krystian Bielik, who joined Arsenal in January. The teenager was bought for the first team, although he is yet to feature for them. Perhaps next season?
