Petr Cech – 9

Cech deserves a lot of credit for this one and he has got it with a 9 match rating. Just before half time he made a great save to deny Anthony Martial and looked confident and commanding throughout. He was that world class presence that the Gunners have missed between the sticks for years. It’s great to have you here, Petr.

Hector Bellerin – 8.2

How long before he gets a call up for the Spanish national team? The electric full back is maturing and developing defensively and his attacking game has always been top class. He is just 20 years old, we have quite some talent on our hands here.

Per Mertesacker – 7.8

Mertesacker and Gabriel managed a clean sheet today and played very well for the most part. A lapse in concentration from both players individually almost allowed United to score on two occasions, but luckily we had Cech to cover. Overall though, a good performance from the duo who had to withstand a lot of pressure in the second half, they stepped up in the absence of Laurent Koscielny.

Gabriel Paulista – 7.3

Nacho Monreal – 7.5

I personally think this score is a bit low for Monreal. He was outstanding today, as he has been for quite some time now. He’s Mr.Consistent and although he used to be targeted for his lack of pace, he now looks comfortable defending against any kind of winger. He has matured brilliantly at Arsenal and long may it continue.

Francis Coquelin – 7.3

Santi Cazorla – 8.0

The maestro in midfield again, Cazorla was calm on the ball and he pulled Schweinsteiger all over the place, allowing more room for Mesut Ozil to do his thing.

Aaron Ramsey – 6.5

Definitely Arsenal’s worst player today. He is really lacking confidence at the moment, and perhaps like Alexis, he needs a goal to help him re-discover his best form.

Mesut Ozil – 8.5

Mesut will be over the moon to get off the mark in terms of goals, and his all round performance was brilliant today. The German has been criticised for his performances in the big games, but today nobody can argue that he was world class. Some incredible touches, passes and body strength helped him make some of the United players look average.

Alexis Sanchez – 9.5 (Man of the Match)

Ooooooooh, Alexis on fire. 5 goals from the last two Premier League games, the Chilean has well and truly rediscovered his goalscoring form. He’s such a special player when he’s at his best and today he gave us that clinical edge that was desperately needed. An instinctive flick for the first and a brilliant strike from outside the box for his second, the forward can literally score any type of goal.

Theo Walcott – 8.7

No goal, but another assist and a quality all round centre forward performance. Many, including me have doubted his ability to play in that role, but at the moment he looks like he is good enough to adjust. Let’s hope that this form continues for him as it was very refreshing to see the Englishman perform so well today.

Subs

Olivier Giroud (on for Walcott 74′) – 6.0
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (on for Chamberlain 75′) – 6.8
Kieran Gibbs (on for Alexis 80′) – 6.3
