Whilst the press are determined to suggest Arsenal are just targeting Schneiderlin this summer, Arsene Wenger appears to have other ideas. Reports in Italy are now suggesting that Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has emerged as a potential target.

The French midfielder has excelled at Monaco, and caught the eye of the Arsenal fans in the French sides demolishing of the Gunners at The Emirates this season. He’s a powerful midfielder who normally plays in the box to box role, but is capable of playing in a more defensive position.

A move for Kondogbia might be seen as a positive for Coquelin, who would remain the clubs primary solely defensive midfielder.

Whilst Monaco has no reason to sell, the player may well look to force a move out if Arsenal firm up any reported interest. The chance to play for Arsenal and play under Arsene Wenger may be too hard to turn down. A bid of around £20million is thought to be enough to secure his signing.

Victor Wanyama has also opened the door to a move to Arsenal this summer, after saying a transfer to the North London club ‘would be nice’. The Kenyan midfielder is thought to be keen on playing Champions League football again, and the 23 year old certainly has the ability to be a useful addition to the squad.
