Lyon President Seems Pretty Confident What Arsenal Will Do Next In Lacazette Chase

Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their search for a striker, after the Lyon’s President revealed he doesn’t expect a second bid from the Gunners.

Jean-Michel Aulas has quashed the pile-up of rumours suggesting Arsene Wenger was plotting an increased bid for the 25-year-old, believed to be in the region of £40m.

But in a statement to L’Equipe, the Lyon chief admitted that he feels the club have done enough to warn off the North London side, who are in desperate need of a forward.

Arsenal have not come back and they will not come back.

Nobody will leave Lyon, except for Rachid Ghezzal if he has an offer, which I doubt.

Earlier this week the Ligue 1 side announced publicly that a £29.7m offer had been submitted this summer, but it was immediately refused due to Lacazette being an “irreplaceable” member of the squad.

That’s got every truth about it but we are yet to hear from the man himself, and if he feels the move to the Premier League is right for him then he will make it happen.

Lyon could be playing hard ball here, it’s what we’ve seen with so many transfers over the years and ultimately they’ll want to squeeze every last penny if the deal does go through.

But this isn’t the update that the hopeful contingent of Gunners fans were hoping for, and attention could soon turn to other options as Lacazette fades away.

The French international has been promised another prominent role up top as manager Bruno Genesio looks to get his side fighting in the Champions League this season.

With the departure of several PSG players, Lyon have their sights set firmly on stealing the title away from their rivals and with last season’s 21 goals behind him, Lacazette is in his best form for the challenge.
