According to a report in The Times, Arsene Wenger is very keen to wrap up a deal this January to ensure the pair are at the Emirates for years to come.

Rumours in the media have suggested Alexis is a target for both Barcelona and Real Madrid, with Rafa Benitez looking for strong reinforcements to challenge in La Liga this year.

However, following the winger’s stunning form since he debuted last season, it looks as if there’s no chance of him waving goodbye to Gunners supporters just yet.

The Chilean international currently earns £130,000 a week at the club whilst Ozil is on £10,000 more, and The Times believe that figure could rise to £150,000 for both players.

And that is a package that Arsenal have never been prepared to offer in recent seasons due to payments still owed for the creation of the Emirates Stadium.

However, now that the stadium is paid off Wenger has already drafted in the likes of Alexis, Ozil and most recently, Petr Cech, who has brought valuable experience to the side.

Mesut Ozil on the other hand has been the conductor of Arsenal’s title challenge this season, picking up a cool 15 Premier League assists in just 17 games.

Alexis already has nine goals in all competitions this campaign despite being on the sidelines for nearly a month, and is expected to rejoin the side on January 10th.

Whatever is said in the transfer window next month, this will feel like to massive deals for the supporters to celebrate, and will leave Arsenal in a stable condition if Wenger is to leave.
