Joel Campbell has confirmed he will play for Arsenal next season after being quizzed on his future by World Cup press.
“Of course I have to go back because I have a contract with Arsenal,” he told reporters after the game on Saturday, “but the most important thing just now is my country and the World Cup.”
Campbell was extremely influential in Costa Rica’s surprising 3-1 win against Uruguay on Saturday. The 21 year old forward scored one and assisted another, and also put in an exciting display which made him look a threat at all times.

It has not been confirmed whether or not Arsene will choose to again loan out Joel Campbell, but it is thought that the Frenchman is still considering the possibility. If Campbell continues to impress during the tournament, Arsene’s choice may be narrowed due to public demand – many Arsenal fans are keen to see the Costa Rican play for the Gunners next season.
Campbell has spent spells on loan in France, Spain and more recently Greece. He has played in the World Cup and Champions League at just 21, scoring goals against the likes of Manchester United and Uruguay. He also has built up a wealth of international experience, gaining 34 caps and scoring 10 goals.
