Arsenal could be able to sign defensive target Winston Reid in January if he doesn’t renew his contract in the coming weeks, according to The Times.
As you may or may not know, Reid’s contract expires at the end of the season – and Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation.
With Premier League experience under his belt already, Reid could be the perfect addition to Arsenal defence for just £5million in January.
Reid is 26, a few years younger than Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, but many fans might expect an even younger defender to join.
But Wenger’s recently declared he felt that you ‘pay’ for playing youngsters in defence. This makes it unlikely that he will no go and invest in a young centre back.
Considering those comments, Reid’s price and availability, a move for the New Zealand international makes perfect sense. Would you like to see him join though? Let us know by commenting below.
His versatility, age and ability make him the perfect candidate for a third choice centre back at the Emirates. But is it a too obvious target for transfer market hipster Arsene Wenger?
