Arsene Wenger has fuelled more transfer speculation for possible incoming targets following his comments on Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante.
Whilst talking to BEin Sports, the Gunners boss admitted that the 25-year-old had all of the right attributes to lead the Foxes to scooping the Premier League title.
But following the departure of three Arsenal midfielders, rumours are now hitting the media that the Frenchman could be preparing a bid for a second Leicester player within ten days.
Despite his remarkable season and rise in appearances at international level, Kante has an attractive £20m release clause, something that Wenger surely has in the back of his head.
I admire and I like N’golo Kante, it gives you ideas. He gives you the feeling that the higher the level he plays at, the more at ease he is.
We are talking about numbers, he has the most interceptions in Europe by far.
He has incredible quality. He feels the game, only very few people can do that. He’s always where he needs to be.
Interest was always going to be hot this summer for Kante following his nomination for PFA Player of the Year, but he’s refusing to be drawn into transfer talk at the moment.
The French international has already stated he wants to focus on performing for his side at this years Euro’s and then he will sit down to look at his options.
Whether or not that could be away from the King Power Stadium remains to be seen, but with the Leicester exodus possibly starting with Vardy, there’s a very good chance Kante could follow.
Questions will however be raised from several Arsenal fans as to whether or not we need another central defensive midfielder, with Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin all competing for the same position in the side already.
One thing is for sure though, Wenger isn’t holding back in this transfer market, and will ideally want to get any deals over the line in time for Arsenal’s pre-season fixtures.
