So we’re in to November and about to go on another international break, therefore it’s easy to think transfer news would take a pretty low rank.
However, it seems as if Arsene Wenger may have opened up a can of worms on the future of Jack Wilshere, which has been cast into doubt over recent weeks.
The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Bournemouth in the hopes of him getting regular playing time in the Premier League following the signings of Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny.
That loan move came as a surprise to many but has been a great chance for the midfielder to show what he can do, with a place back in the England squad a personal priority.
And during Wenger’s pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend’s North London derby, there was a suggestion that his days in an Arsenal shirt might have come to an end.
When asked about Wilshere’s future at the club: I think he has a future at Arsenal, but that’s my opinion.
There’s no denying that Wilshere is seen as a player that has Arsenal in his veins, and in interviews over the years he’s always stressed his intention to stay at the club forever.
In Wenger’s world that would always happen, but as we know his days are getting shorter and it could soon be someone else’s decision on whether Wilshere stays.
His comments suggest there’s nothing set in stone and perhaps Arsenal staff behind the scenes aren’t happy with offering Jack a new contract any time soon.
We’ll have to wait and see, but even Wilshere doesn’t know as he stated earlier in the week. Does he deserve to stay? Let us know in the comments below!
