2.Phil Jagielka
Arsene Wenger has supposedly been interested in Phil Jagielka for a long time now, and although often criticised regarding his performances for England, he has been one of the most consistent and reliable centre-backs in the Premiership over the last 5 years or so. His signature would provide ready-made experience at the highest level and would also give Mertesacker and Koscielny something to think about regarding their almost automatic starting place at the club.
Last season the 31 year old’s defensive stats were very impressive. In total the former Sheffield United defender made 26 appearances, winning more than half of his aerial duels and having an almost near perfect pass completion rate. Overall, if Arsenal were to sign Jagielka I’d personally be very satisfied. He is vastly experienced and would be available at a relatively cheap price. The prospect of playing in the Champions League could also have a big baring on the signing, especially as, if Jagielka were to leave it’d be his last big move before retirement.
