2 – Have we found Saliba & Gabriel’s weaknesses?
Whilst you have to sit there and be annoyed that Arsenal didn’t get anything from that game given the performance, you have to give credit to United.
We played into their hands brilliantly and they took their chances when given to them, scoring three times at pace on the counter attack.
For everything that Arsenal did well in terms of piling on the pressure up top, it left the centre back pairing of Gabriel and Saliba hugely vulnerable.
That was music to Rashford’s ears as he pounced on two half chances and outpaced both defenders in goals that were almost identical.
The high line was obvious to see and it was a high risk strategy to implement on a team that has Rashford, Sancho and Ronaldo up top.
Again, it’s a learning moment for the partnership and one that they will have to consider moving throughout the season as they come up against similar strikers.
