Arsenal fans were delighted on Tuesday when transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed some exciting news.
Lots of focus will be on who the club manage to sign and sell this summer, but probably more important is Arsenal’s ability to keep hold of their best players and most valuable assets.
This was also the case last summer when new contracts for Bukayo Saka and Aubameyang delighted fans.
This time around it appears Emile Smith Rowe is set to commit his future to the club. With just two years remaining on his current contract, it was imperative that Arsenal extended his deal.
Smith Rowe turns 21 next month, and after a breakthrough 2021 so far, he will have been attracting interest across Europe. Arsenal could not afford to lose a youngster with such brilliant potential.
Luckily, according to Romano, Smith Rowe is ready to sign a new long term (5-year) deal. He says the club started talks over an extension back in March and are now finalising the final details before it being announced.
Arsenal fans will also be delighted with the fact that also in Fabrizio’s tweet, he confirms the club are hoping to part ways with Willian this summer. There’s no doubt that having Willian around at the club for any longer would not be beneficial for either the player or the club.
There’s a lot to do this summer for the club, but signing up Smith Rowe to a new long term deal and looking to sell Willian is certainly some good first steps.
