Arsenal need to score at least two goals in Greece tonight, but if Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil start the game, there’s a stat which suggests the Gunners have every chance of doing just that.
Walcott and Ozil have both had injury problems over the last couple of years (who hasn’t in the Arsenal squad?), with Theo only recently returning from his latest set-back. But when the duo are on the pitch together, they seem to be the perfect recipe for success.
Walcott & Ozil have spent in total 1945 minutes on the pitch together for AFC & directly contributed to 51 goals; 1 every 29.3 minutes #afc

That’s a pretty impressive statistic. If they play the 90 minutes in Greece tonight, then statistically we should score three goals or more. Job done then. Let’s just hope the defence don’t let more than two past them.
Ozil has already scored two Champions League goals this season and assisted 12 in the Premier League. Combine that with Walcott’s pace and (at times) lethal finishing – and Arsenal have to tools to go through another purple patch.
You may remember when Walcott was playing as the striker at the start of the season, Arsenal were scoring for fun. Whilst he himself might not score as many as Giroud – Walcott’s pace seems to create room for others to score, the Gunners romped to impressive 3-0 wins against Watford and Manchester United and a 5-2 victory away against table topping Leicester City – their only loss of the Premier League season so far.
With that in mind, I’m backing Arsenal to win 3-2 tonight – with Walcott to score anytime. What are your predictions? Comment below.
