3 Defensive Midfielders Arsenal Could Sign: But Which Is Best?

2. Morgan Schneiderlin

Arsenal have always been interested in Schneiderlin even before his move from Strasbourg to Southampton on 27 June 2008. Initially starting in the French standby squad Schneiderlin made his way into the full squad following injuries to Ribery and Grenier. With an impressive season under his belt he was able to forge his way into the starting eleven on the 25th June 2014, when he played the full 90 minutes of a 0–0 draw with Ecuador. His position at the World Cup was a result of a very impressive season. Schneiderlin was credited for the most tackles, interceptions and highest work rate in the Premier League. He was also named the player’s player and fan’s player of the year at Southampton. With Southampton already selling a plethora of major talents in Shaw, Lallana, Lambert and potentially Lovern they would be far less willing to part with one of their star players. However if Arsenal were willing to pay in excess of £15 million I feel that they could acquire the services of the French general. Schneiderlin is also three years younger than Khedira and has Premier League experience behind him and getting him at the Emirates could be astute business by Wenger.
