Wenger’s future up in the air? Arsenal’s form below average? Alexis Sanchez staying or not? Everything is a bit uncertain at the Gunners right now.
However, we’ve been handed a pretty good update from Football London today that gives us an idea on where Mesut Ozil’s contract situation stands.
According to the exclusive report, Ozil is now refusing to continue talks on a new deal with the North London club due to one very odd reason.
The 28-year-old has demanded that the negotiations are handled by the majority shareholder’s son, Josh Kroenke, who’s becoming a more influential member of the club.
It’s believed that Ozil and Kroenke have a good relationship and in the interest of getting a deal landed, Arsenal will move forward by accepting those terms.
Talks have been ongoing since Christmas with Arsenal’s chief transfer negotiator, Dick Law, but it appears Ozil’s team have managed to get nowhere.
Details surrounding bonus clauses and image rights is what’s mainly holding the announcement, as Ozil has continuously expressed his interest to stay at the club.
Whether Wenger is here or not, the German has already turned down big money offers from China has expressed his desire to stay and win trophies in England.
Arsenal are prepared to go no further than a total of £250,000 a week according to reports, and will not let the playmaker hold the club to ransom.
It looks like the deal is going in the right direction and I fully expect Ozil to sign on the dotted line, it’s just a matter of time to iron out some concerns.
