Reports: Arsenal open talks to sign £22m Premier League attacking midfielder

Arsenal have opened discussions with Leicester City over the potential signing of Moroccan midfielder Bilal El Khannouss, as the Gunners look to add creative depth to Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer.

Last week, Soccer212 reported that Arsenal initiated contact with Leicester over a deal for the 20-year-old. That interest has now been met with a firm valuation from the Foxes. According to Sacha Tavolieri, Leicester are demanding €26million (£22.3m) following their relegation to the Championship. Compared to other targets, this amount seems very reasonable.

El Khannouss, who has earned senior caps with Morocco, is viewed as one of the top young creative midfielders in Europe. Technically gifted, press-resistant and intelligent in tight spaces, he suits the profile of player Arsenal have increasingly targeted in recent years.

He also offers valuable tactical versatility. While primarily an attacking midfielder, El Khannouss can operate on the left wing or as a left-sided No.8, giving Arsenal added unpredictability in the final third. He could rotate with Martin Ødegaard or slot into wider roles when the Gunners look to change shape or unpick compact defences.

El Khannouss, who came through the Genk academy before moving to Leicester, has drawn comparisons to the likes of David Silva and Isco for his balance of flair and tactical maturity. Whilst Leicester have struggled this season, El Khannouss has shown flashes of quality that make him an attractive investment for such a low fee.

Leicester’s relegation means they will likely need to offload key players this summer, and Arsenal are positioning themselves to move quickly.
