Reports: Arsenal Beat Manchester United To French Star

Arsenal are reported to have won the race for highly-coveted RC Lens midfielder Yassin Fortune, beating Manchester United to the 16-year-old’s signature.

United were previously reported as close to a deal but France Football now state Arsenal lead the chase, with Fortune keen on a switch to the Emirates due to Arsene Wenger’s history in nurturing French talent to success.

Currently plying his trade for RC Lens’ U19 side, the attacking midfielder had been scouted numerous times by Manchester United and had attracted the attention of some of the most prestigious clubs in European football.

However Arsenal now seem to be the best fit for the player, who added Krystian Bielik to their ranks in January, and can boast academy success stories amongst the first-team through Hector Bellerin, Francis Coquelin and Jack Wilshere, amongst others.

Fortune would also be present with a host of French stars at Arsenal, with the likes of Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny impressing in the first-team.
