3. Odil Ahmedov
A name many won’t know or at least remember. Uzbekistan defensive midfielder Odil Ahmedov has been linked with Arsenal for years and admitted that he would one day love to play for Arsenal if he had a choice of all the teams. Now he is being linked with a move to the Emirates once again.
Ahmedov said back in 2011: ‘I want to try. All the clubs in Spain and England are wonderful but I would like, if I had the choice, to play for Arsenal.’
He’s 27 and has 64 caps for his country, so has experience – but not at the top level. I’d be very underwhelmed if this was Wenger’s choice of midfielder.
Ahmedov impressed a number of teams with his performances over the last few seasons, but most the interest has been magnified by exposure from the player and his agent. I really can’t see Wenger moving for a play like Ahmedov – but you never know I guess.
