But it looks as if Ainsley Maitland-Niles will continue to play Premier League football after it was revealed two South Coast clubs were leading the race to sign him.

According to Sam Dean from The Telegraph, both Southampton and Bournemouth are frontrunners in the quest for the 24-year-old.

It’s still yet to be confirmed what sort of deal can be agreed, but Arsenal are looking for a permanent purchase with a fee of £10m widely reported.

Maitland-Niles is now into the final year of his Arsenal contract and with it very clear he’s not in Mikel Arteta’s plans, many clubs are waiting out for a bargain.

However, the competition for the versatile midfielder looks to be what’s hurrying this deal along with West Ham United also keeping an eye on updates.
