Age: 26 years old
Position: Attacking midfielder
Squad #: 11
Height: 183cm
Season Prediction:
The sky is the limit for Mesut Ozil who seems to be in high spirits going into this season. The flamboyant attacking midfielder who enjoyed a highly successful second half of last season will be hoping to continue in the same vein this season. He has been speaking on the prospects of being a lot more “selfish” in front of goal. He said “I have to become more dangerous in front of goal. I was injured for long spells last season, and scored only 5 in 32 competitive games. I want to improve this. To achieve this, I have to be more selfish. You need to win major titles with both club and country. In 2016, the chances are there to doit. We’ve got a great team at Arsenal which can win titles.”
This could be the season where the German truly discovers his best form for Arsenal. Last season was interrupted by a serious injury, but his time off allowed for him to develop physically and he now looks more prepared than ever to perform this season.
Player Objectives:
Ozil will be targeting success on all fronts this season but will be particularly confident of Premier League glory. The German certainly isn’t just targeting domestic glory this season but also a shot at the Ballond’or which is a good thing and achievable if he works hard and performs more consistently over this season.
Best Attributes:
His strengths lie in the region of his passing, with crosses and delivering of key passes his fortitude. He also thrives on set-pieces, as well as holding onto the ball to deliver a defense-splitting through ball. His off the ball movement and awareness is second to none.
Weak Areas: Ozil is often criticized for his lack of defensive contribution, also his effectiveness in big games has come under question recently.
