Arsenal are ready to make a £10million move for 18 year old FC Basel striker, Breel Embolo.
The teenage Swiss sensation is attracting widespread interest from around Europe and could feature against England for his national team tomorrow night.
Arsenal’s interest is being reported in the Swiss and Italian press, but they aren’t the only club linked.
Juventus and Wolfsburg have been the most heavily linked, but several clubs are interested in the already well built forward. He’s 6ft and likely to grow further.
With 11 goals in 36 games for FC Basel, Embolo is already showing his talent at a high level and doesn’t turn 19 until February next year. He is dubbed by some as the ‘new Drogba’ because of his great mix of abilities.
At £10million, he could prove to be a bargain, especially after Manchester United spent £36million on Anthony Martial, who is probably at a similar level.
With Danny Welbeck now expected to miss most of the season, Arsenal’s decision not to sign another forward this summer is puzzling. It may well force Wenger into the market in January. With big name strikers like Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani not looking like they will leave their clubs anytime soon, Wenger may have to invest in a young talent like Embolo.
Having seen Embolo on a handful of occasions I can testify that he looks like some player. At £10million I think it’s a pretty risk free purchase, although I would be surprised if they do actually let him go for such a low amount, especially following the Martial move.
