Report: Arsenal ready €25m move for Spaniard if player leaves

Arsenal could have a deal in the pipeline, but it is dependent on a player sale.

Arsenal are preparing for a potential change in their goalkeeping roster, with Aaron Ramsdale’s future at the club uncertain. According to Jordan Campbell of The Athletic , Espanyol’s Joan Garcia has emerged as a prime candidate to fill the void should Ramsdale leave during the summer transfer window.

Ramsdale, who joined Arsenal from Sheffield United, had been a key figure for the Gunners, delivering a series of impressive performances. However, he was dropped for David Raya, who has now joined the club permanently.

Joan Garcia, currently with Espanyol, is highly regarded by Arsenal’s scouting team. The young Spanish goalkeeper has showcased his talents in La Liga, earning recognition for his shot-stopping abilities, command of the penalty area, and distribution skills.

Arsenal’s interest in Garcia aligns with their strategy of securing young, promising talents who can contribute to the club’s long-term success. Garcia’s technical skills and composure under pressure make him a fitting candidate for Mikel Arteta’s tactical approach, which places a premium on ball-playing goalkeepers.

Espanyol, aware of the interest in their player, are likely to demand a substantial fee for Garcia. The negotiations could be complex, but Arsenal’s track record of investing in young talent might play a crucial role in convincing both the player and his current club.

The club aims to build a team capable of competing on multiple fronts for the long term, and securing a player of Garcia’s calibre would be a significant step in that direction. His age also means he has the potential to become the number one in the future.
