Report: Arsenal ready £17.5m bid to beat Spurs and Newcastle to signing of La Liga wonderkid

Arsenal are reportedly considering a serious offer, worth around £17.5million to bring in one of the highest rated prospects in Spain right now – and if the deal went through, along with a linked sale, it could help progress moves for more players this month.

The Gunners have already missed out to Chelsea on two of their primary targets for this month in Felix and Mudryk, and now they look set to go head to head with more Premier League rivals in Tottenham and Newcastle.

According to Pucela Fichajes, Arsenal are ready to ‘snatch’ right-back Ivan Fresneda ahead of Tottenham and Newcastle.

A report in The Telegraph last week suggested that Arsenal had turned their attention to signing Fresneda after missing out on Mudryk.

Fresneda is just 18 years of age, but is regarded as one of the best young full backs in Europe. The teenager is a regular in La Liga this season and as well as Arsenal, the likes of Newcastle and Real Madrid have been strongly linked.

He currently plays for Real Valladolid, whose record sale was Mohamed Salisu for £10million. The sale of Fresneda will certainly be a new record for them.

Spanish right-back… the next Bellerin you ask? Well, not at all actually. His attributes are actually quite similar to Ben White, so he’d be a good alternative option to the English defender.

Cedric Soares is currently frequently omitted from the squad and not trusted in the first team due to how different in style he is to White. Fresneda, whilst still being a teenager, could provide more of an option to rest White when required.

Tomiyasu is also an option at right-back, but with him also covering in central defence and left-back, and White the main back up for Saliba, Arsenal would benefit from another useable defender.

Cedric looks set to leave the club and join up with Willian and Leno at Fulham. His £80,000 per-week wages off the wage bill will be substantially less than the contract they would give to Fresneda, making further efficiencies on the wage bill and allowing more investment in much-needed forward.
