Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to make his third signing of the January transfer window with the Arsenal manager preparing a deadline day swoop for Valencia defender Jose Luis Gaya, according to many reports in Spain and England today.
Gaya, 19, is also said to be a target for Real Madrid, however Arsene Wenger is keen to win the race for his signature with reports in Spain and England suggesting that the club is ready to meet the player’s £13.5 million release clause before this evening’s 11pm deadline.
Gaya, who has made 19 La Liga appearances for Los Che this season, scoring twice is a Spain U21 international.
Wenger has already secured the services of Krystian Bielik and Gabriel Paulista in recent weeks – and is no stranger to a late dip into the transfer market.
Wenger previously has beaten the clock in past transfer windows to bring both Danny Welbeck and Mesut Ozil to the Emirates.
However with 4 hours remaining, I believe that Arsene Wenger’s business for this transfer window is over and that the reported move for Gaya is just media rumours. Arsene Wenger may be a massive fan of the Spaniard but at this moment, Arsenal are in no need of defensive back up so this move could be re-ignited during the summer.
