Arsenal are preparing a 15million summer bid for Lyon forward Nabil Fekir according to The Mirror.
The 21 year old has been tracked by Arsenal scout Giles Grimandi this season, who has reportedly filed glowing reports. Fekir has already earned two senior caps for France and has been the star for Lyon this season.
Fekir is versatile, able to play in attacking midfield, on the wing or as a striker. It is the latter where he has spent most of his time this season – scoring 12 goals and assisting 9 in Ligue 1 this season.
If they are willing to sell this summer, Lyon will want a good amount for their prize asset. Reports have suggested a fee in the region of £15million might do the trick, but I get the feeling a figure north of £20million will be needed.
Arsenal are not in desperate need of any attacking reinforcements, but there is some uncertainty as to whether Theo Walcott will be at the club next season. Walcott has just one year remaining on his contract and has fallen out of favour at Arsenal. He has yet to break back into the side since his year long injury, and Arsenal are reluctant to even match his current wage on a new contract.
We will see how the Walcott saga irons out, but if he goes – a move for Fekir could very much be a possibility.
