Arsenal seem to be moving closer to a major summer signing this summer.
The Gunners have so far been quiet in the market, only confirming a deal for Marquinhos, who is expected to initially become part of the Arsenal youth setup.
With league rivals confirming major signings in recent days, some Arsenal fans have been becoming restless. But it seems just a matter of time before the club complete the signing of Leicester and Belgium midfielder, Youri Tielemans.
That is according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, who says Arsenal remain confident and on course to sign Tielemans and notes he is one of Arteta’s top priorities this window.
How good is Tielemans?
Watch our analysis of Tielemans, his strengths, weaknesses and how he might fit into the Arsenal line up.
Tielemans is valued at £49.5million on transfermarkt, but with just one year remaining on his contract, a club insider has told Fresh Arsenal that the Arsenal hope to sign the Belgian international for around half that amount.
Tielemans was on international duty for Belgium over the last week, scoring at the weekend and notching up an assist tonight.
Now the international games are over, a move is expected to progress.
Youri has been very open about his desire to move clubs. Asked recently if he could leave, Tielemans said: ‘That is not out of the question. I feel very good at Leicester, I was welcomed with open arms from day one. I give everything for the club until the last day.
‘But of course you have to listen to other opportunities, you have to look at your career, and sometimes you have to make choices. Maybe one will come my way.’
