Report: Arsenal on alert as €75m striker potentially eyes exit

Aleksandr Isak has emerged as a potential target for Arsenal as rumours swirl about his reluctance to sign a new contract with Newcastle United.

The Swedish striker, who has been a standout performer for the Magpies since his arrival, is reportedly stalling on committing his future to the club, sparking speculation that he could be considering a move away.

Arsenal, on the lookout for the next big attacking talent, may view Isak as their marquee signing in the upcoming summer transfer window, they have tracked him since his time at Real Sociedad, and could reunite him with Mikel Merino and Martin Odegaard.

Isak, 25, has consistently impressed with his technical ability, pace, and clinical finishing, attributes that would undoubtedly appeal to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. His versatility, being able to play both as a central striker or drift wide, fits the dynamic, fluid attacking system that Arteta has been building at the Emirates. With the Gunners’ aspirations of consistently competing for both Premier League and European honours, signing a player of Isak’s calibre could be the missing piece in their puzzle.

Newcastle will be understandably keen to keep hold of their star forward. Isak has been pivotal to their resurgence in recent seasons, with his goals and all-round play helping Eddie Howe’s side qualify for the Champions League. However, if the striker remains hesitant to pen a new deal, Newcastle may find themselves in a precarious position come the summer, as he is such a high value asset.

But Isak still has over three years left on his Newcastle contract, and is valued at 75m euros on transfermarkt, but Newcastle would likely demand three figures.

Clubs of Arsenal’s stature are often difficult to turn down, particularly if a player senses the opportunity for a bigger stage.

For Arsenal, the pursuit of Isak represents more than just a transfer; it signals their intent to invest heavily in the future. The club have been gradually building a young, talented squad under Arteta, and Isak would fit perfectly into this project. His potential, combined with his experience of playing in both La Liga and the Premier League, makes him an attractive prospect for a side looking to challenge on multiple fronts.

While the outcome remains uncertain, Isak’s contract situation at Newcastle is sure to be closely monitored by Arsenal. If the Swede remains undecided, the Gunners could find themselves in a strong position to make their move, potentially making him the focal point of their next big investment.

Arsenal did try and sign Benjamin Sesko last summer and could dip back into the market for him, but if Isak were available, he would likely take priority given the fact he is already Premier League proven.
