Arsenal’s academy have been incredibly busy over the last few weeks and it looks like another familiar face will be playing away from the Gunners this season.
According to the latest update from Chris Wheatley, it appears Miguel Azeez is in talks to sign on loan with a Spanish club, with Girona currently leading the race.
The 19-year-old is still making his way through the ranks and it’s now believed he’s ready for more senior football as he looks to fight for an Arsenal future.
A failed loan spell at Portsmouth last year led to the Englishman being recalled early in January after making just six appearances for the League One side.
Many felt that was Mikel Arteta bringing back the youngster to fill in a gap in a depleted midfield area following injuries and suspensions to Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.
However, Azeez only managed to land a spot on the bench in four of Arsenal’s Premier League games without a chance to lace up his boots.
It’s believed that his next step now needs to involve regular playing time in a side that will ultimately determine his best position, whether that be as an eight or a ten.
If Girona are successful in their attempts then Azeez would have the chance to play against some of Europe’s elite and experience a side to his game that isn’t on offer in the lower leagues of English football.
