Arsenal are being linked with a €35million move for a Serie A attacker, but would he be a good addition?
According to Italian reports, brought to us via Sport Witness, Arsenal made a €35million approach for young Italian striker Andrea Belotti this summer, though their offer was quickly refused, it appears that his team, Torino, would need in the region of €60million to part with the youngster.
Belotti actually came up against Skhodran Mustafi on Monday night in a friendly between Italy and Germany. Mustafi kept him quiet and the game ended 0-0. This was the 22-year-olds 6th senior cap for Italy and he has scored 3 goals for his country already.
Belotti stats this season are pretty incredible. In the Serie A he has scored 8 goals and made 3 assists in 10 games. That’s phenomenal for any player, let alone someone of his age and if he continues form like this, his valuation will surely rise beyond the €60million that has been mentioned.
Finishing is certainly Belotti’s stand out statistic, though he is also often praised for his hard working work ethic which sees him put a lot of pressure on defenders from the front, similarly to how Alexis Sanchez plays. Like Alexis, Belotti is also fairly good in the air for a man of his size, winning on average 1.8 aerial duels per game this season so far.
The signing of Lucas Perez makes this one unlikely for the time being, especially considering Danny Welbeck is set to return just ahead of the winter transfer window and he will of course be ‘like a new signing’.
Is he worth 60million euros? Well the sale of Gonzalo Higuain has done a lot to inflate the prices of players in European football and if Belotti continues his current form I’m sure Torino would have no trouble in finding potential suitors at that price.
