Arsenal are reportedly showing interest in signing an experienced Premier League forward this month.
A report from The Telegraph suggests that Brentford’s Yoane Wissa is a target this month as the club look to bolster their attacking options this January.
With 18 months left on his current contract, the 28-year-old forward could represent a shrewd piece of business for Mikel Arteta’s side, reminiscent of the club’s signing of Leandro Trossard last January.
His teammate Bryan Mbuemo has also been linked, but given his age and huge amount of interest, could be too costly. Wissa on the other hand, would command a more modest fee.
Wissa’s versatility is a key attraction for Arsenal, as he is capable of playing across the front three, offering depth and flexibility in Arteta’s attack. The Congolese international has been a consistent performer for Brentford, blending pace, work rate, and clinical finishing to establish himself as a reliable presence in the Premier League. His ability to adapt to various roles makes him an appealing option for a team that often demands positional fluidity from its forwards.
The need for reinforcements has been a point of emphasis for Arteta, who recently confirmed Arsenal are “definitely in the market” this month. Injuries and a congested fixture schedule have stretched the squad thin, and adding another attacking option is seen as crucial to sustaining their momentum in both domestic and European competitions.
However, Arsenal are not alone in their pursuit of Wissa. Nottingham Forest are also reportedly monitoring the player, potentially setting up a bidding war between the two Premier League sides. Forest, chasing Champions League qualification, are equally keen to strengthen this month.
