Arsenal are set to have a very busy summer, with plenty of players coming in and plenty on the way out.
Amongst those arriving are set to be an attacking, creative midfielder. Martin Odegaard came in on loan in January, but it is unclear as to whether or not he will join the Gunners permanently. An alternative to Odegaard could be Emiliano Buendia of Norwich. Buendia was looked at in January, but with Norwich chasing Premier League promotion, they were reluctant to sell.
The Argentinean has been on Arsenal’s radar since his impressive campaign for Norwich in the Premier League last season. Despite Norwich being relegated, Buendia was one of the most creative players in the league last season. In the Championship he has taken his form to new heights, scoring 15 goals and assisting 16 in 39 games.
This form has attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Aston Villa, according to Sky Sports. With an asking price set at £35million and up, the 24-year-old will not come cheap. It’s an understandable demand from Norwich given Buendia was recently crowned the best player in the Championship.
Buendia predominantly plays from the right, but there is a feeling that he would be capable of playing in the number 10 position, with his tendency to vacate the central-right areas of the pitch, similar to what Odegaard has done during his loan spell at the club.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Max Aarons of Norwich. The duo would likely come at a combined cost of more than £60million.
