Arsenal have been handed an excellent opportunity to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette for just £21million, according to reports.
The report comes from The Telegraph who claim the information is from other reports.. but don’t give a link. It’s not like The Telegraph to just come up with something out of nothing, but it is hard to believe that Lacazette would be available for £21million, considering the season he’s just had and the fact he’s only 24. The strength of the £ against the € may have a part to play this summer..
After netting an impressive 31 goals in 40 games last season, Arsene Wenger will be alerted by this development – he’s in the market for a striker.
Last week talks broke down between David Venditelli, the player’s representative, and club after Lacazette reportedly asked for an annual salary of around £4.5m to remain at the club after helping the club qualify for the Champions League.
“The offers we’ve had from abroad are very significant in terms of finances,” Venditelli said. “Ultimatums and media pressure won’t change our demands, which OL are aware of.” – via The Telegraph
With Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell set to join Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbache respectively and Yaya Sanogo potentially joining Lille on loan – Wenger could have room to add a striker to the squad.
Karim Benzema was Wenger’s first choice, but the availability to Lacazette may change that. Jackson Martinez has joined Atletico Madrid and Carlos Bacca looks set for AC Milan – leaving Wenger with limted top level forwards to choose from.

I’d suggest Lacazette would be a good deal even at £30million. His pace and finishing would make him an excellent addition to our frontline and give us some diversity going forward.
