The 21-year-old Brazilian is a holding midfielder and is being tracked by a number of top clubs across Europe. He is 6ft exactly and very good on the ball. He is stronger on the ball and in the tackle than Mikel Arteta, but his best attribute is also his passing.
Arsene Wenger is looking for a suitable long term replacement for Arteta, with William Carvalho a name that has been regularly mentioned. Whilst Silva doesn’t possess the physical presence of Carvalho, he is certainly stronger in the passing department and is more of a defensive minded player, whose best attributes no doubt lie at the base of the midfield.
Cruzeiro had allegedly put a €15million asking price on his head. Reports in Italy now suggest that Arsenal have agreed to pay that price.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has already admitted he is a fan of the player and hoped to bring him to Real Madrid. It shows Silva is highly thought of amongst Europe’s elite clubs and Arsenal will have to move fast to secure any possible deal.
