Report: Ajax showing interest in Arsenal outcast, could raise £10m from sale

The market is well and truly moving, and there’s interest in a player Arsenal are looking to sell this summer.

Ajax are considering a move for Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares, according to Sky Sports News’ chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

The former Portugal U21 international has returned to the Emirates after spending last season on loan at Nottingham Forest. Tavares, who joined Arsenal from Benfica three years ago, has made just 28 appearances for the Gunners, struggling to cement a place in the first team.

Arsenal are actively looking to bolster their squad by signing Riccardo Calafiori, primarily for the left-back position. This move signals that Tavares does not fit into Mikel Arteta’s plans for the future. The club hope to raise close to £10million from the sale of Tavares, aiming to reinvest in the team.

The relationship between Arsenal and Ajax has been positive, with both clubs maintaining a good working rapport over recent years.

This mutual understanding could facilitate the smooth transfer of Tavares to the Dutch club.

Arsenal fans will be watching closely as the summer transfer window progresses, eager to see how these developments will shape their squad for the upcoming season with the start of pre-season now just around the corner.
