Real Madrid have set their sights on Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling, according to reports in Spain, and will sell ‘wantaway’, Frenchman Karim Benzema to Arsenal in order to fund the deals.
The Express has reported a story on Spanish sports website Fichajes.net, that claims Real Madrid are seeking to cash in on the France international and both Arsenal and Manchester United have been alerted to the news.
Despite the slim chance of Real Madrid, being interested in Kane, it seems the Spanish media are insisting that Carlo Ancelotti has been alerted to the 21-year-old’s 18 goals for Spurs this term.
As for Sterling, Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to bid £26m for his services in the summer.
If Real Madrid would be willing to go ahead with trying to purchase the British duo, it would mean that Benzema would be surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu.
Arsene Wenger has been a long admirer of Benzema and has previously tried to sign him many times before. Wenger would certainly welcome the pace and predatory instinct that Benzema would add to Arsenal’s attacking options.
A move for Benzema would be a huge coup for the Gunners who are moving in the right direction and are trying to attract the biggest names in world football.
Who knows, come the summer Benzema could be playing his trade at the Emirates.
