An Arsenal side, depleted through injury and illness were involved in a battling tie against Brighton on Saturday night.
Teenager Ethan Nwaneri, just in his second Premier League start, broke the deadlock, latching on to Mikel Merino’s through ball and cutting in and finishing, much in the style of Bukayo Saka.
A bizarre penalty was awarded for Brighton early in the second half. The first of its kind. It will probably be the last too. Joao Pedro converted to level the scores.

Men of the match: Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian hasn’t been perfect since his arrival but I think he had a good game, in a challenging stadium against a tricky winger. Won 6 of his 9 duels and 95% pass completion.
