Player ratings: Brentford 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal travelled to Brentford in the League Cup on Wednesday night and made nine changes from the North London Derby.

Some were forced, but Mikel Arteta clearly wanted to rotate his side in this game and give other players opportunities. Amongst those was academy product Sagoe Jr who earned his first team debut.

Arsenal controlled proceedings in the first half and took a deserved lead through Reiss Nelson.

The second half was more of an even affair, with Brentford’s pretty much full strength XI, starting to get into the game and having a number of shots, although only really testing Aaron Ramsdale twice.

Men of the match: Reiss Nelson. The matchwinner and probably will be pushing for a start against Bournemouth now. Tomiyasu was also brilliant in central defence, a position we’ve not seen a lot of him in for Arsenal.
