Player Ratings: Aston Villa 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal bounced back in impressive fashion with a win away to Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners were emphatic in the first half and should’ve scored more than one goal, but Bukayo Saka’s strike proved enough for the team to take all three points.

Here’s how I rated the players:
Bernd Leno – 7
Cedric Soares – 7
Ben White – 8
Gabriel Magalhaes – 8
Kieran Tierney – 8
Thomas Partey – 9
Granit Xhaka – 8
Emile Smith Rowe – 6
Martin Odegaard – 6
Bukayo Saka – 8
Alexandre Lacazette – 4

Man of the match: Thomas Partey. Partey has moved to new levels and if he can keep this up he will prove to be worth every penny of his transfer fee. He needed time to find full fitness and adapt to this league, but now he has, he’s showing brilliant quality and is the foundation for everything this team are doing.

Flop of the match: Alexandre Lacazette. If this was a test to see if Lacazette is capable of playing three games in a week, he failed. The Frenchman was lucky Arsenal’s defence was strong because his attacking performance was ineffective.
