Wojciech Szczesny-6
Had very little to do in the game and could not have done anything to prevent the goal. However had a few shaky moments and, right at the end, luckily got a free kick for a ball that he failed to claim.
Mathieu Debuchy-7
Making his Premier League debut for Arsenal, Debuchy was constantly overlapping Alexis Sanchez and causing problems for Joel Ward. He defended well even though he had very little to do.
Calum Chambers-8
Another one making his Premier League debut for Arsenal. Had a lot of the ball with Palace dropping off and was very comfortable with it. A very experienced performance for such a young defender. His only mistake was a very silly booking, which was gained after committing a professional foul on Campbell.

Laurent Koscielny-7
Very calm in possession, very good block in the first half after Szczesny sliced a clearance. His positioning for the goal was very poor, allowing Hangeland to score. A very good header made it 1-1. Additionally he kept the ball alive for Ramsey’s goal brilliantly.
Kieran Gibbs-6 (Off 52)
His ball retention was good throughout, with a lot of overlapping runs. He did not have very much to do with Arsenal monopolising possession.
Mikel Arteta-6
The Arsenal captain helped to keep the Arsenal midfield ticking over but did very little to influence the game. Found it hard to feed it through the lines with the majority of the Palace players dropping off behind the ball.
Jack Wilshere-6 Off 68)
Tested Speroni on a few occasions in the first half with a few long range efforts. Kept the ball relatively well but didn’t do enough with it. A lot more to come from the English midfielder if he stays fit all season.
Aaron Ramsey-8
Not at his best today but could be the key man if Arsenal keep him fit this season. Was once again the match winner with a 90th minute goal. This goal provides Arsenal with a platform to go forward this season.
Santi Cazorla-5
Cazorla had one of his worst games in an Arsenal shirt. He was caught on the ball a lot of the time, especially in the second half and did very little to cause Martin Kelly any problems. His passing was also unusually poor. It was undoubtedly a day to forgot for the brilliant Spaniard.
Alexis Sanchez-8
The star signing this summer displayed great movement throughout. He was a constant thorn in the side of Joel Ward. He showed glimpses of the sort of player that Arsenal fans are expecting for this season. Although he failed to block Hangeland for the Palace goal, he delivered a great ball for Arsenal’s first goal.
Yaya Sanogo (Off 60)-6
The young French striker was always readily available to receive the ball but did not always get the service he wanted. There will be a lot more to come from him this season, as he shows a lot of promise.
Subs
Nacho Monreal-6 (On 52)
Like most of the Arsenal defenders he had very little to do defensively when he came on. Made a few good runs off  Bolasie which caused the Palace backline a few problems. Covered well when the Arsenal defence were pushing up looking for a winner.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain-6 (On 68)
Seemed to make a difference when he came on, quickening up the tempo of the Arsenal play. Was slightly sloppy in possession and his quality in the final third was unfortunately lacking. Another player who is just recovering from injury, and has a lot more to show this season.
Olivier Giroud-7 (On 60)
Must have been surprised not to have started this game, but the French international kept the ball alive for the second goal and showed Arsene why he should have started. He also provided a wall for the Arsenal midfielders to play off.
