David Ospina has said he is happy at Arsenal, but does consider a move to Everton as a ‘great opportunity’ amid reported interest from Roberto Martinez’ side.
In quotes published by Mundo Deportivo, Ospina has committed his future to Arsenal: “I want to stay at Arsenal. I am very happy in London and my family , so I hope I respect my four-year contract with the club, “
“Everton is a team to be reckoned with and a great opportunity ”
Perhaps a loan deal for Ospina, or even Szczesny would be the best route forward – with both looking to stay at Arsenal in the long term.
It’s fair to say that neither of Arsenal’s existing keepers want to leave this summer. The arrival of Petr Cech meant many fans expected both Ospina and Szczesny to force a way out – but both seem keen to learn from and compete with Cech.
Personally I would love to keep Ospina as the clubs number two – and then loan out Szczesny for a full season – perhaps to a mid table Premier League team. Someone like Southampton would have been perfect, but they have now signed up Maarten Stekelenburg on loan. It would be good to get his wages covered in full without losing a player of his potential permanently.
