Nwaneri starts, 7 changes from Bolton: Arsenal’s predicted line-up to face Leicester

Arsenal are back in Premier League action with a 3pm kick off against Leicester City on Saturday.

There are some injury concerns and after a heavily rotated squad beat Bolton 5-1 in the League Cup, Mikel Arteta is expected to make plenty of changes to the team again, with PSG the next visitors to The Emirates next week.

Goalkeeper: David Raya

Fitness permitting, Raya of course comes back in. If not, it will be time for a debut for Neto. The on loan Brazilian was cup-tied against Bolton, but would be ready to deputise in the league or Champions League if required.

Defenders: Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Gabriel, Riccardo Calafiori

We don’t know how fit Timber is, or Ben White, but I would lean towards starting Timber if both are fit, just because it sounds like White has been struggling with something for a while, and should get the time he needs to properly recover, and come back for the PSG game potentially.

Midfielders: Thomas Partey, Declan Rice, Ethan Nwaneri

I think a fresh Thomas comes back in for Jorginho, and I would keep Nwaneri in the side. It’s him or Trossard really, and I think following Leo’s red and Nwaneri’s brace, the youngster deserves his opportunity. His midfield interplay and link up with Saka on the right could prove pivotal in breaking down a likely stubborn Leicester City backline.

Forwards: Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli

I’d like to see Kai back at the number 9, with Saka and Martinelli either side of him. I think this front three has the potential to get the best out of all members involved. Arsenal have the luxury of the likes of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus to use from the bench if required.
