Arsenal may actually have a different manager next season…
The clubs main reported target is Juventus coach Massimo Allegri, who has repeatedly failed to deny rumours linking him with the Arsenal job. Arsene Wenger has also failed to commit his future to Arsenal, with his contract ending at the end of the season.
Now, according to FootballItalia, who source other Italian sources, Allegri has already agreed to leave Juventus at the end of the season.
If that is the case, then it would only strengthen rumours linking him with the Arsenal job. The Italian is a coach that is held in high regard due to his work at Juventus and would surely be a candidate to replace Wenger should he leave.
The news that Allegri may already have an agreement to leave may mean that Arsenal have already held talks with him, or even Arsene himself.
Wenger has also reportedly told French press, Beinsport that he trusts the board to find the right person to replace him, and that he ‘can’t talk’ about his future. Sounds to me as if he is a man that could be on the way out.
Allegri has won the league 2 out of 2 times during his spell at Juventus and looks likely to win it again this season.
Juventus coaches rarely last longer than three years and according to reports, there has been no falling out but the club and Allegri ‘feel the cycle is coming to an end’.
Allegri is known for switching his formation fairly frequently to suit the opposition. It would be a refreshing sight to see Arsenal line up to stop the opposition in the big games. It is something that has really been missing from Wenger’s game, he is extremely stubborn in his 4-2-3-1 formation and that is perhaps why Arsenal have performed so badly against the other big teams in the Premier League.
