Mosquera deal edges near as Arsenal still chase striker

The summer transfer window is in full flow and we are now nigh on a full calendar month off the big Premier League kick off for the 2025/26 campaign, and Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta have already been pretty busy this last few weeks and we have already seen the £75 million arrivals of Kepa, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard.

If the speculation rumour mill is to be believed we are far from finished when it comes to adding to the squad and improving the overall quality of the group as the aim next season, as we all know, will be in finally bettering our league position as runners up and hopefully lifting the Premier League trophy under our own steam once again. With the campaign yet to kick off, plenty of fans will be enjoying their online gaming adventures with the likes of bitcoin poker Betpanda offerings, but for those who like a flutter, there are still plenty of odds available on what kind of season Arsenal will enjoy.

Those odds will likely change further as the weeks pass, particularly if we finally solve the age old dilemma at the Emirates Stadium which is our dire need for a died in the wool and reliable goalscoring striker. Whilst rumours persist about our apparent interest in the likes of Ollie Watkins, Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, and some claims being made that fans could expect an announcement when it came to Gyokeres in the next 24 or so hours, it is now being reported that we have finally struck terms with Valencia centre half Cristhian Mosquera.

The 23-year-old Spanish Under 23 international cap has been in high demand this summer after seriously impressing for Valencia after making his way through their youth set up. It has long been reported that we were in talks to secure his capture, but with news coming through of an agreement being made with personal terms, it really should only be a matter of time before the full deal goes through.

With Mosquera capable of also playing in the right back position, he will not just play back up to William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, he would also be a suitable replacement for the departed Takehiro Tomiyasu who previously agreed to mutually terminate his contract at the club.

With 90 Valencia appearances to his name since making his breakthrough, he comes in with good experience for a lad of his age, but clearly he more than has a significant learning curve left ahead of him in the years to come before he reaches his full potential.

Understandably, most Gunners fans will be focusing on the striker speculation as our gaffer has not hidden his desire to bring in a reliable new face to lead us at the top of the pitch, and of course, we have to see what comes of all of the furore a few days back surrounding our supposed interest in Chelsea’s Noni Madueke.

It does definitely seem like Arteta still has deals that he wants to get over the line, though.
