There’s not much one can say after Mike Dean, who was awarded Man of the Match in France by Canal+’s viewers, after sending both Gabriel Paulista and Santi Cazorla off during Arsenal’s 0-2 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Gabriel was red carded in the 45th minute for making non-obscene gestures Diego Costa, Chelsea’s persistent offender. Next time Gabriel use obscene gestures; you may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. Cazorla, who had already been yellow-carded in the 31st minute, made Dean “see red” in the 79th when he was given a second yellow card for a “rash” challenge on Cesc Fabregas.
The general consensus appears to be that it was Dean who made all the difference to the outcome of the match today with poor and inconsistent refereeing decisions. And it looks like the French weren’t the only ones to award him MOTM.
9 vs 12 men, enjoy your MOTM award Mike Dean @FA

On a more positive note, as I’m compiling this article, Chelsea are still sitting in the bottom half of the Premiership table. Long may that continue.
