Alex Iwobi is set to sign a new contract at Arsenal following a series of impressive performances this season.

Iwobi excelled in the clubs FA Cup run and last week impressed in away games against Barcelona and Everton, where Arsene Wenger rewarded him with back-to-back starts.

Currently earning just £750 per week, Iwobi looks set to be rewarded for his fine form with a new contract worth around £10,000 per week, increasing his wage by more than 13,000%.

It is likely he will sign a five and a half year deal as Wenger and the club want to tie down the teenager who has been as the club since the age of 8. His goal against Everton was his first senior goal for the club.

The physical and mental qualities he showed against both Barcelona and Everton showed promise and there is real hope that he could develop into a top class home-grown player. Hopefully he can steer clear of injuries and progress better than the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott have managed to.
