Match Preview: Arsenal vs. West Brom

Arsenal are running hot and cold like a tap at the minute and Arsene Wenger must be praying his side can pick up three points to ease some of the pressure surrounding him.

A solid win in midweek should be a perfect starting block for The Gunners to build on, as they travel to West Brom for an early kick off on Saturday.

Arsenals domestic form has been patchy at best, but they face a Baggies side that, like themselves, come off a two game losing streak in the Premier League.

With just four wins from their first 12 games, the FA Cup holders must begin to turn their season around and start to climb the table despite a seemingly endless injury list.

Arsenals medical staff must renegotiate for hourly pay the amount of work they’re currently dealing with. Fresh doubts over Danny Welbeck and Yaya Sanogo, combined with a seemingly long layoff for Captain Mikel Arteta, give Wenger yet more unwanted selection headaches.

The Gunners should still have enough quality to beat a West Brom side with some injury worries of their own. James Morrison and Sebastien Pocognoli are doubts, while Jonas Olsson and Claudio Yacob are out due to injury and suspension respectively.

Baggies boss Alan Irvine insisted yesterday that inform Englishman, Sadio Berahino, will be selected despite being the subject of a police investigation regarding a possible drink-driving incident.

The potential return to the starting 11 for Lauren Koscielny should help solve some defensive frailties Arsenal showed against Swansea and Man United. This combined with more clinical attack may give the visitors a routine win their fans crave.

A simple one or two nil win would give the Arsenal faithful the perfect start to the weekend. This doesn’t seem to be possible at the minute, so expect another nervy trip which hopefully finishes with three points and no new injuries.
