Arsenal could be set for more January transfer activity than originally thought…
According to a report in The Sun, Arsenal could be set to receive a £25million bid for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Aged 23, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been at the club for more than 5 years now but he’s still seriously struggling to make a lasting impression. The Gunners have invested a lot of time into the midfielder and Arsene Wenger has publicly said that he does not want to let him leave, but the talk of the town is that the club are yet to open contract talks with him, despite he, like Alexis and Ozil, having less than 18 months remaining on his current deal.
The decision for the club to take priority over Alexis and Ozil is not surprising, though it may be worrying for Oxlade-Chamberlain, who already feels as if he is underappreciated and underplayed at the club. With the likes of Manchester City reportedly ready to pounce, I’d be surprised if the player wasn’t slightly interested by the possibility of a move – despite it being another English club.
‘The Ox’ has never looked overly comfortable as an Arsenal player. He’s not of the typical build and style, but sometimes that works to Arsenal’s advantage, having a different option.
Julian Draxler has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks and if he were to join then it would surely spell the end for the Ox. The Gunners would have the chance to replace Chamberlain with Draxler for around the same amount of money, with both players being touted around with the asking price of around £25million.
Who would you rather have in your team?
