Now it may not officially be the silly season, but this morning there are plenty of rumours flying about. The Gunners are being linked with an £80million move for Paul Pogba and French paper L’Equipe has shown him in an Arsenal shirt.

They show Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United with the best players, trying to enforce how big a deal it is for the Premier League’s TV money to increase. The money will help Premier League clubs attract the best players, but is Pogba to Arsenal still a bit too farfetched?
Pogba has been linked with an £80million move to Arsenal this week in the English papers. Realistically I don’t think Arsenal would spend over £50million on any player. He’s an incredible player though, and at just 21 years old I think he is probably worth £80million. When you consider he is already a world class midfielder, amongst the best in his position, then he is worth the investment as he still has at least 10 years at the top.
The problem is, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid and more will all want Pogba. The Gunners may need to come up with something special if they are to convince Pogba he should choose Arsenal over those clubs. He’s likely to command wages in excess of £200,000 per week too, which would make him the clubs highest earner by quite a way.
As much as I’d love this one to happen, I really can’t see it. I saw someone on Twitter earlier suggest that if Jack Wilshere was sold it could happen, maybe – but only if he sold Wilshere for over £30million to help raise funds.
